In this case, I think the title is right. You see, I just got off the phone with Bell. We're doing the whole moving thing in 9 days (which means there's a tonne of stuff to do in a short period of time...grrr). So, I made the mandatory call to Bell Canada to do the old switcheroo.
To turn off our current line, they don't have to show up.
To turn on the new line, they don't have to show up.
BUT, they still get to charge me 55 dollars!
One day I'll actually need it explained to me how that is remotely justified. Assuming the barely-English speaking operator gets 12 bucks an hour, that accounts for 3 dollars. As far as the other 52...the guy that flicks the computer switch must be making more money than an Emergency Room doctor.
Oh well, when we move there will be almost ZERO long distance calling, which means I can save 18.95 a month (or some other absurd figure). So, in three months time I'll actually be ahead. Actually, I'm almost to the point where a phone line is far too over-rated, but that's another story.
Up next, the car company! 'Course that will have to wait. I need to move some more stuff and grab a coffee with philas before work.
