I've gotten so used to rarely having my computer on. Maybe it's because I've been working so much, or maybe it's because it has been nice out and I'm outside more....but it's wierd. I used to be glued to the computer. Cell phone too, and I rarely even use that anymore and I end up forgetting it so much that the battery dies and it sits there useless. I feel like I'm in a sort of hermit mode....I come home from work and curl up with a good book outside, or in my room and tune out the world for awhile. It may be killing my social life, but it's fun as hell and really nice and quiet.
After months of hermit time, I finally went out and did something exciting for a change. Thanks to my good friend Eeni. I took the week off from work (both CFCU and Micheals....heavenly) and on Tuesday morning we drove off to Niagara Falls, Canada and then to Darien Lake the next day for a Dave Matthews Band concert. I am just going to sum up the highlights to myself before I forget them:
Day one:
-the guy at customs was cute and friendly, good start to my day
-paying a visit to the liquor store
-Kilkenny beer - yum
-swimming in the deserted pool and lounging in the hot tub
-going to Boston Pizza - my dream bar....good beer, good food, air hockey, video games, bowling and pool....how more perfect can you get? I still rock at Guitar Hero and get better at air hockey after I drink beer. It gives me super human powers ;).
-the wild mushroom bar and the plastic army men we left as a symbol of our presence there.
-sitting in the hotel room napping in a cozy bed why Eeni and Chris gave themselves a heart attack at the haunted house called "Nightmares".
-Back to Boston Pizza for more beer and more video games - Skee Ball!!
-Taking the time to walk around the block back to our hotel while Eeni and Christ tried to jump the fence they had run into when we had taken a wrong turn (yes, we were quite drunk)
-Finally back to the hotel room, nice and cozy...I turn on the tv before bed and end up getting to watch the ballet "Romeo and Juliet" - so pretty. I cried like a sissy girl even though I all ready knew the ending :-p.
Day 2:
-hangovers - ugh
-walking down the the falls and taking some pictures
-the second guy at customs was also cute, but not as friendly...they let me back in the country....darn
-Old Country Buffet in Buffalo - perfect cure for said hangover
-Checking into the awesome ghetto motel we stayed at - complete with stained carpet and a pink bathtub - the beds were comfy though
-nap
-going to a place called "Dash's Market" and finding the best sausages ever. Spinach and Cheese chicken sausage....I wanted to move to buffalo right then and there.
-Tailgate party at Darien Lake - complete with those yummy sausages and some Sam Adam's Summer Ale
-The Dave Matthews Band concert was great - they are an excellent band and really perform flawlessly - even when a fuse blows and the whole stage goes black. The picked up right where they left off once everything was turned back on without even a countdown - so good.
-The rain - i will never forget the rain. From the second the concert started until the very end - it was a torrential downpour and we had lawn seats. I was soaked. It's a huge compliment to the band that I enjoyed myself as much as I did and I could ignore the rain.
-Sitting in line to get out of the parking lot for an hour before moving an inch
-getting out of those wet clothes and into pjs for bed, while Eeni and Chris went to go grill more hotdogs - they had a one track mind when it came to eating before bed...haha.
Day 3:
-no hangover this time!
-my car is making a funny knocking noise...poop
-home sweet home...it's crazy how I can't sleep well without my puppy curled up in bed with me.
So the end of the story is that on my day off I take my car to Maguire to get it looked at. My wheel bearing is going in the back now (the two front wheel bearings were replaced last year). Saweet. You know what though? I would gladly do it again. Next time I go see DMB again....I'm getting assigned seats under the tent....just in case ;).
