Well, the past month has been quite busy, back and forth to various types of medicos. The sub-total on the butcher's bill isn't bad, but good great goddess, it's annoying.

1) Did you know that people who rely on crutches develop carpal tunnel? I suppose that's a no-brainer, but it's not anything anyone brought up to me until it was too late. Prelim diagnosis is nerve damage to both nerves, in both hands. I'm doing pretty well with the braces at night and a few hours during the day, and I have special gloves for when I walk (which are impossible to use in the current heat), so hopefully no surgery will be required.

I, uh, kinda got upset at the doctor who said the surgery would be nothing to worry about. I told him it WAS something to worry about, as it would leave me bed-ridden for however long it took to heal, and almost wholly dependent on outside help for *everything*. How the HELL can he sit across from me, with my crutches on display, *talk* about them as the cause, and NOT factor them in when discussing surgery and recovery?! Or am I just being over-sensitive about this? Oh, screw that. I'm done being meek and accepting about it.

2) Vertigo is kicking my ass. Hard. I can't go out in hot + humid weather anymore. Even if I wear a hat and bring water, if there's even a mild incline and the air quality's iffy, I start graying out. Actual mental dialogue: "Wait, wait...if I pass out and fall forward, I'm probably going to break teeth. Can't afford that. If I fall backwards, I'll hit my head and probably get one of those sub-something hemotoma things and die. Don't want to do that. Solution: sit on the curb, idiot."

3) Cysts. This will be SO much fun. In between bouts of pain. More surgery talk.

4) Doc started to get angry over my not telling her about my appendectomy--I've never had one!--until the little bastard was found someplace else. Like I needed more proof I'm not running according to factory specs.

5) Referred to specialists. My medicos list now clocks in at... seven.

6) It's kind of squicky to share doctors with an older male relative. Thank goodness for different surnames.
