My biggest pet peeve in the small publishing field is when markets fold and don't let anyone know. Especially when they have held stories and don't bother to notify the authors.
I submitted a story called, "Life with Pain," to a small publisher doing a special anthology to benefit victims of abuse on February 3, 2009. I was told they were holding my story for further consideration, and to check back after October 10th if I didn't hear anything sooner. I did, but received no reply. I sent another query by the end of the year, again with no reply. Their website still seemed up and running, though, and the anthology had not yet been published. I have no where else to send this particular story, so I decided to be patient.
As I was updating my submissions in the Excel document today, I thought I'd better check their website one more time.
It's gone. It vanished without any notification whatsoever.
Anyone else ever have this problem?
