Writer's Block: R.E.A.D. in America Day

Sep 27, 2008 20:33

I'm currently reading "The Count of Monte Cristo" by Alexandre Dumas on the ole Sony Reader, and "Trinity Blood: Know Faith" in paperback.  I've also got a pile of manga I need to get caught up on eventually.

And yes, it is not unusual for me to be reading several books at the same time.

Reading has always been important to me - it's what I do at lunch, when I travel, how I relax before going to bed at night, and what I do a whole lot of on the Internet.  Reading teaches, it entertains, it enlightens.

As for what others should read - you should read what you like.   Don't read something just because someone says it's 'important' (unless it's for school - then you kind of have to).  And don't just dismiss something because someone says it's a classic - it's taken me many, many years to finally get to 'The Count of Monte Cristo' - and I'm loving it.

Read the classics.  Read some scifi.  Read some manga/graphic novels.  Read a historical romance.  JUST READ SOMETHING.
