I tried to take a few pics of the puppies today and yesterday. They're getting so big and they're losing some of that sweet, soft puppy look. They're still super cute, though! When I say I tried... Well,
This is how they've been turning out:
They're crazy active littles!
Here's a decent Sophia pic and one of Sturdy in the yard today.
They love each other.
We took the monsters littles to the vet today for their boosters. They've grown so much! Madeline weighed 17 lbs 2 oz, Sturdy was 16 lbs 6 oz and Sophia tipped the scales at 18 lbs 2 oz. Sophia's hernia is still bulging, but he said we'll remain on watch and see. I really hope it gets well and she doesn't have to have surgery. Some people asked if they could have her a couple of weeks ago, but I couldn't give her away until I know for sure she's going to be fine. I know they would probably have taken care of her, but I was afraid.
The rat poisoning in the canned food scared us when we first heard about it on the news. The first evening when they hadn't released the names of the brands we opted to skip the canned food. We've started putting one can of canned food under their dry food because they eat it better/faster that way. They weren't gobbling up the dry food since we stopped softening it and we realized that Zoe was climbing in and eating it up from them after we went back inside. Luckily, we don't have a lot of pet food selection around here (seriously, I have to drive 90 miles to buy the Nutro Holistic puppy food I feed them - bought two 35 lb bags yesterday) and the canned food we'd bought was Alpo, which wasn't one of the brands. Percy hasn't been eating any canned food for a month or so (we ran out and started giving him dry at both meals and he seems more satisfied now) and what we have for special occasions wasn't any of those brands, either.
We put collars and leashes on the puppies for the for the first time today. We had planned to try them out a few days ago, but we couldn't find the ones we'd bought previously and had to buy new ones yesterday. They weren't crazy about them, but they did love getting to run around out in the yard. It was really fun.
I forgot to journal about this, but Sebastian lives at
lost_wounded_14's house now. I did cry after we dropped him off, but three have been so much easier than four. She posted
some pictures a few days ago if you'd like to see.
I had more to say, but I'm getting very sleepy and I have to get up early tomorrow. Good night, LJ!
