I wonder if it would be cheaper to just wait and buy shows on DVD and cancel the cable subscription?  News, weather, and anything else relevant can be found online and it would eliminate the advertisements completely.

When faced with a choice between helping others at my own loss or helping myself at the loss of others, I made the Machiavellian choice.

I feel shitty about it, but I feel like it was something i had to do.
