Getting dressed by candlelight
Hello 4 years later!
Many of my friends are blogging now and it reminded me of my old livejournal.
This morning I woke up to no electricity. My first thought: did I forget to pay my bill? Luckily, I recently bought a box of matches and luckily, for teacher appreciation week last year I received quite a few candles from my students. Therefore this morning I got ready by candlelight, still not quite sure why my apartment had no power.
The reason is now known. Texas apparently cannot handle 30 degree temperatures and therefore must schedule rolling power outages across the state to conserve energy. If a state can keep cool in 110 degree weather you think we could handle staying warm in 30 degree weather but my Cornell degree fails me in my attempt to understand the situation.
