JoJo's e-mail that was sent to a few fans:

[fan],
just got another email from a JC fan asking basically the same thing so I'll email you what I told her....

When it comes to getting airplay on the next project, first thing is the label needs a strategy that is right for him that shows commitment as opposed to tossing a single out there and saying good luck. When the single is officially released that is the time people need to start calling radio stations so each station can log those requests. Don't be discouraged if it doesn't happen immediately - the market is so heavily hip hop leaning at the moment. The label then needs to release the album in a timely fashion and when the album comes out his fans need to buy it ASAP - within the first week so that the first week sales look impressive. It would be nice for it to debut in the top 5, however if that doesn't happen, a slow build is the next best thing. But, unfortunately, it might not be given a 2nd chance if it has a slow start. That's just the way some Program Director's are and the label pays attention to this as well. If they see a project start slow sometimes they'll cut their losses at this point before they invest more money (NOT Payola) - I'm talking in videos, promotional hours from staff etc. According to Eric (working with JC now), JC's last album was "critically successful" but not commercially. Without losing the credibility, their attack is to make the next one commercially successful.

Hope these random thoughts help....

Jcfunhouse's "insider info" from an industry party:

The Industry Party This Weekend
I figured the fans would want to know this little bit of information that was shared with me by a source via the industry party that was held this weekend. Consider this a little FYI in regards to the goals they have for Album #2.

Eric's goal is to get JC commercial success now because he feels that Schizo was critically acclaimed but not commercially acclaimed. We all know that much but I'm glad someone in his camp is cognizant of that. It was shared with me that Jive needs to show commitment towards JC's next project and not just choose singles (like they did with ADIDAS) willy nilly. The whole idea of what the street team is doing seems premature. This person feels that when his single drops that that is the more apt time to do something street teamish because then the radio station can LOG calls and that's why it's so important to do requests when the single drops but not now because there is no investment/interest in his old tracks. The Clear Channel stations are not going to play a Schizo track at this time PERIOD. JC has high stakes against him because the industry is heavily hip hop at the moment this person said. (imo JC should hybrid his crazy with some beats and scratches but that's another topic alltogether). It was also shared that the fans need to buy the album ASAP (like they did with No Strings) within the first week so that sales look impressive. It was said that it would be nice if it debuted in the top 5 and this individual seems to have high hopes for Album 2. If it doesn't then a slow build might work as well. However (it was said) slow starts are something the labels and program directors look upon as not so good because then it becomes an issue of loss of investment (for tours and promotions). This is the "strategy" they said that Jive should adopt.

Again this is not the end all be all of information but at least we know there is a plan in works. They also mentioned how Jive and JC ignored the suggestion by radio to go with BMW over Adidas and felt that that was the death knell to his album, which was why it was mentioned above. Anyway, I hope I've shed a little light.
