Had to leave work early so I could study and get my articles. Found one! yay....and printed out a bunch of stuff I may or may not finish reading tonight. God bless Kush's heart, she gave me a ride despite wanting to leave earlier... TT; I'm sorry! ;o;
Wow, people were stressed out at work today. If not they were mopey. The holidays and inventory. I tell ya...it's got folks acting a bit more highstrung. And we still haven't received word about the secret shopper. I'm guessing they want to keep us on our toes forever. *sighs* Well, I'm not letting my guard down (unfortunately).
Once all these stupid things are over work might go back to normal. X_x; Maybe...The changes in schedules might cause some more conflict among workers, but le sigh...what can one do? X3;
Well, I'm still coping with the fact that I'm missing my fave cousin's wedding this Friday. My coworker today couldn't believe I wasn't going. *sighs* Yup, neither can I. I've decided to get my cousin a REALLY nice gift via my credit card.
Speaking of which, today I finally used it for the first time. At McDonalds of all places. Then I used it at Johnny's at work. Got dad an eclair and mom some rugalash. Also got a fruit tart for my stressed out coworkers to try. Most were too stressed out to try it. XD;; Oh well, more for me and my partner today. We both loved it. I'm stapling all my credit card purchase receipts together.
Went to mass by myself today. Then met with bro afterwards and walked around the little booths inside the tents to see what they were selling for Our Lady of Guadalupe's Festival. Tomorrow's the last day. I later got 20 dollars out for Jes to buy me two Guadalupe t-shirts they were selling. Both shirts have a sepia version of that now popular painting of Our Lady holding Pope John Paul II.
I'm sure it's been redone many times, but I still wonder who could've created the original image. I first saw it last Christmas at someone's nativity set in Mexico. I thought it was the strangest thing at first, but it did move me somewhat. The pope did admire Mexican's dedication to Our Lady of Guadalupe. Today at the booth, I heard the story behind it. Apparently Pope John Paul II was quoted as saying he had felt (or dreamt?) Our Lady of Guadalupe's arms around him when he fell ill once. Who knows, but one thing's for certain, he was dedicated to the Blessed Mary and all her apparitions.
And yes, Our Lady of Guadalupe is Mary. Apparently some people think she's a different person. No it's just one of her unique apparitions. More than likely one of her most accurate, considering that back then most hebrews living in Israel over 2000 yrs ago were tan-skinned. I seriously doubt she was a blond or a light brunette like many an artwork depicts her. But whatever.
After leaving the church we had breakfast at home and Jes convinced me to go buy his guitar case that arrived a week ago. But first we went to Walgreens to get his camara from his summer trip to Oregon developed. There I got a Spanish wedding card for my cousin. *sighs* After I narrowed it down to three, Jes helped me choose one. It's really cute, which surprised me. He thought that one was best. Well, hey, I'll trust the boy's judgement to make sure my cousin's fiancee is at the least amused.
*sighs* Afterwards we went to Sam Ash to get his case. ugh...an old classmate was working there today. I never talk with anyone from Gorman nowadays, except my close friends. I never had any beef with this guy, I barely knew him. According to Jes, he's actually a cool guy. I think he was well liked at school. *shrugs* he does look different now. I never thought him the rocker type of guy. He was a prep in Gorman. Or at least I thought he was. Apparently not.
It was a bit weird meeting him today. According to Elliot (my brother told me this earlier) people at Gorman had thought I had based my character Lucas (from my comic "Blessed Gwen" in the school newspaper) on him
._.
Uh...how could I? I didn't even know he was into rock music. I barely knew who Elliot was. And Lucas was more skater-punk than rocker. XD; Still...hearing this was funny. One, I didn't realize the popular kids actually read my comic, much less disputed who I could've based my characters on, and two, I didn't even know Elliot.
*chuckles* I'm amused, but yeah, it's weird. I wonder if he really thinks I based Lucas on him. Back in school, he looked nothing like Lucas. Lucas was based on my neice's description of a hot guy working at Hot Topic. His personality and name is from the guy in the movie Empire Records. So yeah, totally not Elliot. lol!
Well, since the guy who helps my bro out wasn't in today, we didn't get my brother's case afterall. We went to McDonalds afterwards and ordered to take out, despite planning on sitting in there. While Jes picked up our orders I looked at the receipt (since it's my first credit card purchase) and noted the time was 14:40 PM. I'm like...
wait...that's...2:40 PM.
...SHIT! I'm LATE TO WORK!
So we rushed out of there only to see my bus pass us on the street. We arrived home a few minutes later. Both mom and dad were still at church (they went to another mass) and I didn't have my house key. So I sat, put the stuff I bought together, left it there while Jes ate his hamburger and ran to Church to get a housekey from mom or dad.
Found dad on the way (people were leaving), got key, ran back home, opened house, changed in a rush, got out of room, begged dad for a ride to the Monorail station. He passed me the keys and we hightailed it out of there. Wow...I had never driven with a deadline. I didn't speed, but I felt like I had. X_x;; I guess I'm normally a very hesistant driver. Today I didn't hesistate and Dad said nothing. Yay! XD; I get there and make it in time to get on a monorail that'll arrive at my casino just in time for me to clock in on time.
I clocked in at 3:33 PM. Wow.
Afterwards I was still wired for a good part of the evening at work. XD; Probably why I was clueless to people's mopey behavior. I had a huge load of adrenaline running through me. Tomorrow I'll probably be braindead/or just plain dead-tired.
le sigh...back to studying. T_T God help me tomorrow. TT;
waah! Just realized I'm missing Las Mananitas de La Virgen de Guadalupe right now! ToT; (JB never misses them.) And now Dad's giving me grief for not having pride in Our Lady of Guadalupe...idiot...as if I LIKED studying for finals!
