THE FUCK?!
I find it exciting, but others may see it as nerve-wracking.
I kinda see that as a waste of money...but it must be nice that you can afford to piss away money like that. I know at least a hundred ways in which to better spend $200 a year than having to continually deal with a "hit or miss" product. But that's just me. (but the TPB are a good idea...still...I'm cheap)
My wallet is my wallet and I'll spend the money in it any way I want to and I don't have to answer to anybody about that. If I want to rant about how unsatisfying I find a certain company's line of products, I can do so. If I want to say that they only have one good product, but predict that it won't last...therefore explaining why I, personally, don't want to INVEST in it...I CAN!
If others want to agree with me or not...THAT'S THEIR FUCKING BUSINESS! Do research! I give people's intelligence enough credit, cuz hopefully they'll be smart enough to look up other opinions or facts before they come to a conclusion. IF they don't...again...THAT'S THEIR FUCKING BUSINESS!
This is just MY OPINION.
Sorry if my rant sounds like those folks you're talking about. To be honest, I don't care about what other readers do or buy. If people don't want to deal with ShittyBB or ShittyFirestorm or SHittywhoever...DON'T DEAL WITH IT! You are NOT OBLIGATED to spend your money like that! No one is holding you at gunpoint saying...YOU MUST BUY THIS PRODUCT OR i'll SHOOT YOUR BRAINS OUT! NO!
Take a step away people...unlock the chains of a monopoly...journey to other venues...try the internet! See what other geeks are reading or watching. It's a big wide world out there. DC is NOT the epitome of comics. They just own a lot of American icons. That's it.
I lived for a decade without American comics, and another decade with them. I think I can live another decade WITHOUT them.
Disclaimer: This journal is for my personal real life friends and friends that I've met from artist groups on the web. I'm the only one in my group of friends who bothers to read American comics. Why?

I've written about your original post and subsequent ones in my journal (http://sora50.livejournal.com/93439.html). I didn't talk about every point you raised, but hopefully it will explain better my thoughts.

Because everyone else reads MANGA.
Thank you, that is all.
