YESH! We are back online! The electricity has been fixed and so has the air cooler that in recent days was spewing(?) hot air. Apparently our friend the handyman never turned on the water(?) for our air cooler. I don't even know how the water works with the air cooler, but I knew taht without water...we got no cold air. And we told the handyman this. But...what else can ya say if you're not too sure how the thing on top of our house works. We've never been up there...except dad. But, now he can't do that in his blind old age. ^^;
Thankfully the kind electrician has fixed that and the air is once more blowing cold air! ON A HOT DAY! woot! it finally works like it has in the past! Sweet.
He was pretty cool. He apparently had read all the books my dad had read and seemed very educated. He was also very proud of his mexican heritage and wishes to go back to live in Mexico. Not very much for globalization. LOL, But yeah he seemed like a cool nice guy.
*sighs* and now I'm waiting to get my grade for my online class's assignment last week. This is the first time someone in my class IMed me. Her last name is Stoner. For I sec I thought I had trillian on or something and someone strange person wanted to chat for no reason. lol, but no, she wanted to know if I had gotten my grade yet and how I did on last week's assignment. Apparently this week's assignment has more directions, meaning our teacher was expecting something else from us? Who knows, she tried e-mailing the teacher, but has yet to get a response. I'm like...uh, don't know what to say. I haven't even read the chapters yet. LOL...I'm just barely checking in.
*sighs* BUT I DO WANT MY GRADE! waah, I wanna know how I did. For now, school is the only thing keeping me sane!
Kush! I have not forgotten you! Have faith! Keep your chin up!
Well, school and books, really... I went to the library this week and checked out some Japanese history books to refresh my knowledge of the Meiji era for my Enishi fanfic.
Kush knows all about this, since I've bored her to tears about this... Sorry! I'm only trying to direct your attentions elsewhere. Get your mind off things...yeah. I'm sorry! Shame on me...TT; I hope you're okay...TT;
Of course, as usual when I don't have a computer, I start thinking up new ideas of stories or drawings to entertain myself with. But instead this time I focused back on the Enishi fanfic and actually sat down one day and drew about five sketches based on or inspired by the fanfic.
I'm actually rather proud of them. They also helped inspire me and helped me further develop some plotlines that I had left hanging to work on a rainy day. But it almost never rains in Las Vegas...so I never got to them.
A few years back, before I joined that RK rpg and role played as Yutaro, I had thought up of a companion side fanfic to the Enishi fanfic.
I had thought to make Soujirou interact with the Kamiya dojo residents and the Gensai clinic residents. I had this silly notion of making his story somewhat of a repeat of Kenshin's life. He meets a young girl who changes his life for the positve and makes new friends. The new girl in this case being a grown up responsible Ayame and the friends being Yahiko, Suzume, Kenshin, Kaoru and Kenji, and later on Yutaro. The whole purpose of that was that later on, the new kenshingumi and now Soujirou would at one point meet up with Enishi and Misao and help in their mystery case.
But the problem is...Soujirou is friggin' hard to write. I would hope that after ten years he's found a LITTLE bit of peace of mind and some understanding, not completely, but some of it. Yet...I really don't know how he could. XD;; He's quite the character. I praise all authors who've done an excellent job of writing him in the future. I really can't do it. His mind's hard to get into.
So, instead I figured to just have him randomly appear in the enishi fanfic and not write his own story. XD;;
NOW though, I have more ideas and I think I can do it. Instead of going with my original idea of him being a major character starring in his own fanfic. I think I'm more comfortable writing him as this sorta mysterious witness to events that will happen in Tokyo. You never quite know what he's thinking, but he does influence the storyline enough to move the other characters into action.
His foil will be Yutaro who I'm writing very differently from how I wrote him in the rpg. Cynical, and somewhat dark Yutaro is a doctor in training, who acts as a substitute coronor for the Tokyo police, ever since he and Yahiko helped them on a case. I blame reading the Cain and Godchild manga series. THe whole gothic Victorian horror thing's got me hooked. Tis funny, but now I ended up giving Yutaro a bigger role than I had originally planned. He'll be popping up much earlier in the story now. But I'm still working out the details to have this make sense. lol,
The other thing I thought up recently is Misao's story. I had in mind several one shots that would detail her development before the events in my fanfic...but never could, I dunno...get into it, enough to want to write it. Like I knew in my head what happened, but not exactly why or how.
But now I do! sorta. Again, thanks to music and reading. ahem. I now have MORE ideas on what to do. I'm rather happy since it's helping to give meat to my fanfic. LOL
UGH, I'm not sure whether it's a good thing I'm without my comp or not. XD I think too much.
But hey! I'm proud of myself.
Most of the time I'll take a book out from the library and I'll read only sections in it. But this time I read the whole book. I started it in the evening and finished the next afternoon. Yesterday I started on the other book, which is a bit more complex and thicker, but still interesting.
One chapter I read talked about japanese scientists who were trying to find a suitable diet for Japanese soldiers who were sent out to other Asian countries and how one had suggest (omg!) rice as the staple food since for centuries Japanese thrived on rice, but his suggestion had been dismissed in search of more Western foods. 9_9; Of course a few years later, someone found rice had an important vitamin in the husk and only THEN did they decide to try it out. Mori-sensei, I believe he was called, then goes on to talk about how things are now only validated through science. He knew rice would be good, but he only had the "effects" of eating rice to use as proof to go on with his theory. He did not know the "causes" of why rice is good, and so his "science" was faulty and as a result, was dismissed.
My problem with the book is it keeps going off on a philosophical tangent here and there. Not really science, but philosophy. >_<;
Mori-sensei then goes off and starts spouting philosophical terms in relation to that issue which is a bit above my head. He's starts losing me there. I'm not too good with philosophy. My knowledge is no more than that of Philosophy 101 class. ^^; Which wasn't really that good to begin with either...lol. But I'm trying!
Right now I'm mostly interested in learning about historical events and breakthroughs. Someday I'll go back and try to figure out the philosophical "whys?"
Oh yeah, and to conclude my RK/Japanese history shpiel(sp?)...
Here's the last pic I updated my DeviantArt gallery with. Woot! in full color, I present
Mibu Wolf meets Red Riding Hood. Inspired by the RK/Peacemaker Kurogane crossover rpg I was in two years ago, this is an old pic. But I finally went back to it and finished it. I'm rather happy with the color job. Twas fun. Got me back into the RK fandom. XD
Oh yeah and music helped too. Been listening to my bro's ipod for hours since last week. SL-chan! Katie Melua's "I cried for you" is SUCH A MISAO SONG. Yes, it's a blues song, before anyone complains. I'm very much aware of that. THANK YOU. The music video is somewhat freaky, so do not watch it, otherwise, you'll totally be distracted and miss the song entirely. XD
Yes, I know when you think of Misao, sad songs nor the blues are what come to mind.
But tis a pretty song, I THINK. shhh! No spoilers. But yesh. If I could, (by ignoring historical contexts and copyright infringement laws...), I'd use it for my fanfic. XD cuz it fits her IN MY FANFIC. At one point at least. But hey, I won't use it. So please, lay your worries to rest, esteemed folks of the RK fandom. XD;
Now I shall run and try to make myself useful in the house.
And call Kush.
