The last is why I never made it past the first episode of The Tudors (that, and I actually have some minimal knowledge of that particular period).

Basically, just pretty people playing sports and having lots and lots and lots of sex, plus a brief bit of Sean Pertwee in the opening scene and a decent performance by Sam Neill as Cardinal Wolsey. As someone who has a considerable amount of knowledge about the Roman period I have to say that it made a decent change to see various other events form the history of Rome, apart from the usual Caesar, Antony, Octavian story, which seems to be churned out on a regular basis, even if they did include an (obligatory?) episode involving Caesar during this particular series. Don't know how it's being shown there but they the events were out of historical order when the series was originally shown here. Jury's still out as to whether or not that was the best idea.
