Azkadellia's world changed drastically when she was possessed by an evil witch 15 annuals ago.
Jeb Cain's world was changed drastically when Zero & his Longcoats 'killed' his father 8 annuals ago.
Azkadellia's scarred by the things the witch made her do.
Jeb's scarred by the life he's had to live.
Azkadellia is saved by her sister's love
Jeb is 'saved' from killing Zero by his father's love.

D.G. and Cain, now Princess-bound-for-the-throne and her personal love slave er, chief of security, like to keep their loved ones close. Since there are a lot of people who'd want to see her dead, and since he was once one of them, D.G. and Cain decided Jeb's the best choice for the job.
They hate it. Az feels guilty enough about the whole 'evil witch' thing, and Jeb can kinda be an ass. The bickering (because while she's no longer ebil, she can take it as good as he gives it.) spurs them into a love/hate situation. And then there's the whole sexual tension thing - because he's the first person to see the 'real her', and she's the first one to see him as just a boy and not a general.
The entire mix was made with me randomly listening to both my MP3 and WMP over a week and a half and snagging songs that seemed to fit the randomness and absurdity of this pair without even realizing that was what I was doing. I like to think I hit it pretty well. Mneh. (I also find it insane that this pairing came to me out of a Tin Man/Torchwood crossover fic plot. But if the crazy fits...)

Besides, since when has he listened to anyone else's orders? First part is kinda Papa Cain to Jeb (especially the put 'some fire up your ass' line))
You can hold her hand/and show her how you cried/explain to her your weakness so she understands/then roll over and die/you can brave decisions/before you crumble up inside/spend your time asking everyone else's permission/then run away and hide...and we've been hanging out/tell em god just dropped by to forgive our sins/and relieve us our doubt

(Admitting it to each other - Jeb tells her how he feels after she demands he be removed as her bodyguard. Because she's too damn scared to take a fricken chance.)

This was originally supposed to come in the middle of the main mix, but really, it had nothing to do with the Az/Jeb-y ness and all to do with Zero melting down at his loss of Witch-Queen-Lover and the flaunting of the boy he beat once with his bare fists (kinda) and who fake-tortured (or mentally tortured, if you wanna get technical with it) him into giving up said Witch-Queen. And it takes place slightly-before/during/shortly-after a ball in which Az is wearing a stunning blue-black gown that is a tad too close to the sucking-death garb she used to wear. Did I mention team Torchwood is somewhere attending said ball? Making sex inneundos? And with the dancing?)
