He’d taken the first step. There was no denying that. He’d put himself out there, hoping she’d be just as receptive. Apparently she was - but she wasn’t quite ready to take that big step towards ‘them’. And then she’d took off to Montana and had stayed there for weeks, poof, just out of his life and his sight and his hearing.
He’d be damned if she didn’t still haunt his thoughts, though. Nope, Lindsay was still in his mind twenty-four hours a day. It was a funny thing, love or lust or whatever they had going on between them.
After week five rolled around and still no word from her about there last conversation. It was the end of his shift and he was more than anxious to get home when a hand shot out to stop the elevator doors from closing. Danny groaned, rubbing his eyes. He couldn’t catch a break today.
“Hey Danny, you miss me?” a voice he knew only too well asked quietly.
Danny’s eyes snapped open in surprise. Lindsay just grinned at him as the elevator doors closed behind her.
“I thought you were still in Montana.”
“I just got back.”
The silence hung between them until the doors opened. The doors had almost shut again before either of them made a move to exit. He was the first to move, she wasn’t far behind him. Before he could speak, her fingers pressed gently to his lips.
“Can we just not talk? Can you just be kissing me?”
Danny didn’t have to be told twice.
