Terrace to Prudhomme Lake

Today was my last full day on the Yellowhead. I feel like I have developed some relationship with the road having followed it from its start in Winnipeg. It is an interesting road, on one hand, it was the first great trail across the Northwest and on the other hand, it is one of Canada's newest highways. I intended to picked up a Yellowhead sticker for my bicycle, but alas, the giftshop industry doesn't feel the same way about the highway -- instead they want to sell bottles of maple syrup, yet it has been a long time since I saw a maple tree. Gah.

Since I had two days to make it to Prince Rupert, I took my time, sitting under old growth cedar trees and beside snow fed creeks and watched water rush over cliffs to crash on rocks hundreds of feet below. There were train tunnels and old road alignments to explore.

In the end, however, I underestimated the distance to the campground and came in rather late although it was still very much daylight when I arrived. Prudhomme is a provincial park, and I realized late in the day that it was Friday. I had a small worry that the place would be full. But, there were still a couple of sites available. I have yet to encounter anywhere that was full, even on major holiday weekends.

Stats:
Distance: 130km
Max Speed: 44km/h
Avg Speed: 16km/h
Time on Bike: 8h7m
