Seeley Lake to Terrace

Jul 09, 2007 00:37

The rain had stopped by the time I woke and my tent was dry when I packed it away. I wanted to make good time today, since I had plans to stay in Terrace and, while doable, everything would need to cooperate for that to happen.

For the most part it did. I didn't get out of the camp as early as I expected, but was still on the road by 10. The only major wait was 20 minutes at the mudslide cleanup, but I simply turned that into a rest stop.

The scenery was, again, awesome. + have come to expect that from BC, though. The road seemed to have more down hills than up, so the pace was quick. It feels like it has been downhill all the way from Topley, which has been great.

I met, but didn't stop for, my first female bicycle tourist travelling with 2 others. It was also the first time I saw a group of cyclists. They were travelling up the road maybe heading for Alaska. That brings the total, for the mainland at least, to meeting four other tours and overlapping with two. All, except the last were single, male, in their twenties. I would like to rant about demographics, but my sample is too small to say anything meaningful.

I made it to the Keating house in Terrace. The first thing I did was take a hot shower, one thing BC parks tend to lack. Then I visited for a few days, keeping my feet up.
