Waiting for my ride

01. Name a movie that you have seen more than 10 times.
Shawshank, The American President, Johnny Dangerously, Fight Club, uh, uh…. plenty

02. Name a movie that you've seen multiple times in a theater.
I think the last one was Iron Man, because two groups wanted to go on consecutive nights as part of larger plans. Not a bad flick.

03. Name an actor who would make you more inclined to see a movie.
Matt Damon. Guy’s got a helluva good agent for the parts he lands.

04. Name an actor who would make you less likely to see a movie.
Eugene Levy

05. Name a movie that you can quote from.
Oh god…Major Payne, Johnny Dangerously, Office Space, the Wayne’s Worlds, Shawshank, The American President…

06. Name a movie musical that you know all the lyrics to all the songs.
eh. You think I’d be all over this one, but the truth of the matter is, I’m not usually a fan. I can probably do a good portion of the Kevin Klein-Linda Ronstadt edition of ‘Pirates of Penzance’ because it’s been engrained in my soul.

07. Name a movie that you have been known to sing along with.
Saw II

08. Name a movie that you would recommend everyone see.
I think everybody should see ‘When the Levees Broke’, but I’m not sure I’d recommend it to everybody. Let’s go with Little Man Tate.

09. Name a movie that you own.
Watched ‘Thank You for Smoking’ last night.

10. Name an actor that launched his/her entertainment career in another medium but who has surprised you with his/her acting chops.
If we’re talking standup, I don’t care what they’ve done recently: Robin Williams and Jim Carrey had some skills when they first started doing serious roles. When somebody has a mind that works as quicky as theirs and with that much energy, they can really reach into the nuances of a character’s thought process.
Outside of standup, I don’t know - Carl Weathers?
*Amendment: Tina Fey. Duh! Came in as a writer.

11. Have you ever seen a movie in a drive-in?
Yep. One that sticks out was a double feature with a group of friends. I have no idea what the second movie was, but the first was ‘Spirit: Stallion of the Stars.’ This made for some AMAZING MST3K commentary.

12. Ever made out in a movie?
Yes. There have been jackets placed on laps on one or two occasions, as well.

13. Name a movie that you keep meaning to see but just haven't gotten around to it.
Out now: 500 Days of Summer, Funny People, Inglorious Basterds. Other than that, lots of Hitchcock - Vertigo, North by Northwest.

14. Ever walked out of a movie?
Yes. One of my friends convinced me to go see fucking ‘Dungeons and Dragons’ which neither of us had ever played before. Took us  15 minutes.

15. Name a movie that made you cry in the theater.
Saw ‘Big Fish’ with my brother. There are a lot of parallels to our own lives with our dad. We were both tearing up at the last scene. The last scene in ‘Glory’ used to get me, too.

16. Popcorn?
I don’t really have a set rule on popcorn. It all depends what mood I’m in.

17. How often do you go to the movies?
not terribly often. I think the last movie I saw by myself (which is rare) was ‘The Dark Knight’ in Tulsa. Any other time is a matter of wheels.

18. What's the last movie you saw in the theater?
District 9. Some very cool stuff in there…except for the gaping plot holes. And the dialogue. And the weak motivation for characters’ actions. Other than that, it’s great.

19. What is your favourite/preferred genre of movie?
Comedy, but mindfuck movies are great ones, too. Movies that make you think.

20. What was the first movie you remember seeing in the theater?
I remember watching the 3-D movie at Disneyworld in which Michael Jackson danced with the Elephant Man’s bones.

21. What movie do you wish you had never seen?
‘The Fall.’ Good god that movie is torture! My brother’s roommate had just bought it on blueray, so they had to watch it all at least once. As a result, six of us were forced to stay in that room with him until it was over. …then he wiped out coming down the stairs New Years day. Guess who that was.

22. What is the weirdest movie you enjoyed?

Off the top of my head, maybe… ‘Pi?’ That was a little fucked up.

23. What is the scariest movie you've ever seen?
The Ring had a few scenes that freaked me out the first time. Of course I also watched it my first night in the upstairs apartment of an active funeral parlor. May have had something to do with it.

24. What is the funniest movie you've ever seen?
A lot of movies make me laugh for different reasons. Johnny Dangerously and Major Payne are up there, but so are Amelie and Thank You for Smoking.
The first time I saw ‘Old School’ I thought it was the funniest thing I’d ever seen. I watched it again when I wasn’t on an intensely powerful pain medication for what was essentially a chin replacement and it was considerably less amusing. I also saw ‘Snakes on a Plane’ while high. Also a bit different sans substances.
