I remember thinking at one time that it would be a cold day in hell before I'd write an original character in a fanfiction. As far as I saw it, OC's fell into two categories: those like Teles from
niamh_sama's OGAM who you just wished were canon characters so that you could get more of them, and the rest. The rest generally being the Mary and Gary Stus of the fandom. Of course, in retrospect, I realize that there are actually a good number of OC's that aren't central characters like Teles, but still contribute and are enjoyable. But still, not something I'd ever write. Yeah. Right. One day I'll stop setting myself up for falls.
Spent a couple of hours outlining and plotting my S/K modern thingy (which has a title now: Rondo), and guess who decided to pop in and introduce themselves? Two (oh, no...couldn't have just one) OC's. We've got Michiko, a thoughtful, intelligent, and mild-mannered full-blooded inu youkai, and Takeshimaru, an inu hanyou with a stick up his behind and a chip on his shoulder. I have no idea how often those two will show up, or even when they'll first appear, but they're there. Well, actually, I know that Michiko likely won't appear for quite some time, though she'll be mentioned early on. Takeshimaru...well, I'm certainly not going to try to tell him what to do, so we'll see.
