The Saga of Sadie and Socks: Hampers and Nekkid Time...

Jun 17, 2016 17:56

So after the maniacal cleaning that happened yesterday, I decided to look at YouTube videos and relax with Sadie. Socks had taken up residence underneath the bookcase. When it was 0130, I realized I should probably go to bed as I had a 0900 client this morning. When I turned off the downstairs light, the cats began their bedtime routine. Socks immediately came upstairs to get into our bed and Sadie started running around, finishing up whatever she had to do (start the dishwasher? Pay taxes? What are you doing??). Fidget and I got into bed, and Socks crawled up, then spread out between us, then laid out the full length of our bodies.

We settled in, but somehow, it disturbed Socks and this was no longer Acceptable. He jumped down, then started cruising around our bedroom. Interesting.

Now, we're sleeping. I'm about to fully drift off when I hear him pawing at our bedroom blinds. I chase him off the hampers and window sill.

This happens a few more times. He keeps getting up, pawing at the blinds, which startles me into AHHH CAT WHAT ARE YOU DOING?

Once, I decided to open the hamper lids so he would no longer have a space to get onto in order to get to the windows. This prompted a hearty laugh because he jumped INTO the hamper, and then it closed on him. And he did not like being IN the hamper, but couldn't figure out how to get out.

The last time I looked at the clock was 0330. I angrily told Fidget that if this continued, I was going to have to sleep downstairs and he'd have to deal with Socks. I wasn't quite sure what had gotten into him, but I knew I'd be waking up in FOUR hours in order to do therapy.

Thankfully, he stopped then, and I got up in the morning, showered, and did my therapy. By the time I got home, I was so exhausted, I ended up passing out for an hour. Due to the heat, I stripped nekkid as soon as I got upstairs, then laid down on the bed in order to air out, aiming the fans on me. Socks decided he wanted to get into bed, too, and didn't care if his human was nekkid.

Then Sadie jumped up on the bed.

Socks immediately started to growl, so I corrected him. He stopped growling, but looked decidedly Not Pleased. I pet Sadie, then tried to pet Socks. My nekkid body was between the two of them.

I realized this could be particularly dramatic.

However, Sadie jumped down and then Socks decided he no longer wanted the bed, so I got a glorious hour of sleep.

Now, I'm waiting in a decidedly cleaner house for two of my grad school friends to come by. Rice is cooking on the stove, and meatballs are cooking away in the crockpot. Floors have been swept, cat boxes have been cleaned, and I'm trying to drink some cold coffee to perk myself up for tonight. Fidget has already retreated to our bedroom in order to Study All the Things. I'm hoping to have a good night tonight and catch up with these women, one of which I haven't seen in probably a year...

... it's truly amazing how much can happen in 365 days.

sadie, super socks the tubby democat
