There was a time five years ago that I consistently held a full-time job and a part-time job. Honey would come home from work and periodically check on me after I had been working for 18+ hours straight. I didn't see my friends, but I was finally able to work myself out of debt and pay back friends and credit cards that had helped me.
I've been working only a full-time job for the past 4.5+ years. However, some things have changed:
· I'm in a stable committed relationship with my partner, whom I live with.
· I bought a house.
· I'm in graduate school full-time.
Today, idly, I looked up Craigslist and found part-time temporary work for the upcoming holidays. This sounds like an excellent opportunity; I could earn some dough to put into savings. Especially when school ends, I'll continue to have my abbreviated schedule until the spring semester starts, and then the part-time job will no longer be a concern.
It's something to ponder, and something to talk with Fidget about. I haven't worked retail since my Kmart days, and it would be a long commute by bus, but an extra $300 or so a week for a month sounds like a good cushion...
... plus finals, papers, holiday obligations, and oh yeah, spending time with the aforementioned partner!
