30 Days of Tom Hardy: Day 2

DAY TWO. Favorite movie! I wish I could say anything other than Inception so I'd look a little cooler, but I'd be lying. (Also I haven't seen all of his other movies BY FAR. RocknRolla is awesome too though. COULD BE BECAUSE HANDSOME BOB IS JUST HOW I LIKE MY THARD THOUGH, SEE PREVIOUS POST.) Inception is just really cool, yo. It's my main (only) ( Read more... )

Do you have a good quality dl of this? I feel like I definitely need to see it again. It was one of those situations where I walked out thinking it was AWESOME, but there was so much hype that I got very sick of it. I mean, I was never going to like it as much as everyone else apparently, because even leaving the theatre, while half of me was discussing the ending and all the cool stuff and what a neat concept it was and great cast, blah blah blah, the other half of me was already picking out all the flaws that are big pet peeves for me.

SO YEAH. RAMBLE. My point being that now people aren't telling me how much I suck for not wanting to have its babies, I would really like to see it again. The parts that worked best for me were all the emotional ones, in particular with Cobb and Mal. Leo is SUCH a good actor and no matter how many times he must fictionally part with a loved one due to death, it still hits me in the gut. That part where he reveals that they did grow old together, and you see them walking through their dreamworld all old and still with each other, I basically wanted to sob when everyone else was like LOL BUT WHEN DO WE FIND OUT IF SHIT'S ALL GONNA BLOW UP AND BE A DREAM?

I have a cam version from some torrent, but it's pretty decent? The DVD is coming out soon though, so I'd wait for the DVD rip. (I used this torrent if you don't want to wait!) What were the flaws that bothered you? TELL ME I WANT TO KNOW. Also I'm pretty sure that I would've come out of the theater loving it no matter if I did or not. I just really needed a new fandom with LOTS of fic and picspams and craziness, because those Jonases just weren't cutting it anymore.

The emotional parts were amazing, and the cast really was SO GREAT, but I'm pretty guilty of being more into the action parts than the emotional ones - EVEN THOUGH THOSE WERE AMAZING TOO. I kinda wish I'd seen it before I knew Arthur/Eames were The New Big Ship though, because that definitely changed the way I watched the movie.

Ohhh, okay, I'll wait then!

Hahaha, oh man, I totally understand needing a new fandom. If I had felt what everyone on my twitter was I would have been RIGHT THERE. But generally I don't really like FPF very much, so it was a tough sell anyway.

BUT, OKAY. Things I wasn't that fond of:

- the plot and concept is super, super cool. i'm sure no one would dispute this. but i found it a little boring that they just repeated it 3 (or 4? i forget) times. like, they explained in detail what they would be doing going into the first level or whatever, and then just did that AGAIN and AGAIN. it was kind of redundant for me, especially since i think they could have spent a lot more time explaining other things.

- i actually had almost no trouble understanding the dream worlds, or what their little mission was, or anything like that. so, idk, it seemed like most people were all THIS IS SO CRAZY AND CONFUSING I NEED TO SEE IT A LOT, but what i actually thought was way more confusing and poorly done is a lot of the character stuff. like, building up the team, i thought they glossed over who these people were and their stories and how they know each other too much. i wanted way more to understand okay, but WHO IS THAT GUY? as opposed to COOL EXPLOSION THAT WOMAN IS TOTES NOT REAL.

- i thought they made the dude from red eye believe everything WAY WAY WAY TOO EASILY. like, the entire lead up was them teaching the new people (haha, maybe just the juno girl was new? can't remember) how important it is to be SUBTLE and not make it seem like anyone planted the idea. and they also kept mentioning how DIFFICULT it was. the lead up made it look like this was the hardest effing thing in the world to accomplish, even for a group of such professionals. and then the actual act of doing it was them being "disguised" and going YOUR DAD WANTED YOU TO DO YOUR OWN THING. YOUR DAD WAS PROUD OF YOU. HE LOVED YOU. I KNOW BECAUSE I AM ALSO A GUY WHO KNEW YOUR DAD, NO MATTER HOW LOOSELY. BUT REALLY, START YOUR OWN BUSINESS OR WHATEVER. And the guy from red eye was just like ... all right, cool! i will. haha, sorry, it just enraged me. i was like, bitches, i could have just planted a wind catcher in the real safe when he was peeing. WHAT IS THIS.

I think those were my main issues! Again, it's been so long that I'd need to watch it to remember everything, but yeah. NOT to say there wasn't a ton of stuff I didn't LOVE. A lot more of that than stuff I didn't like actually. I was just never able to see why people were making it out to be this really big deal film. I didn't think it was particularly enlightening or anything?

ANYWHO. Hahaha, I hope that doesn't all some really harsh. I did really enjoy it, but I have never been able to say my problems with it because mostly when I have expressed there was something I didn't joy people tell me I just didn't GET IT.

This is so interesting! I actually agree with and/or can see your point on all of these things. I had no problem understanding the plot either. I guess that if you're going to look at it like 'IT'S ALL A DREAM OMG' then it'd be a little more difficult? Seeing as I'm pretty sure that's not how Chris Nolan meant to make it. But yeah, definitely went in expecting to come out totally confused, which wasn't the case at all. Also I agree on wanting to know more about the characters' background, but I assume that wouldn't have gone down with the target audience who went in to see a Chris Nolan movie, explosions and cool shit, yeah!

lolol I don't think you're allowed to give it that much thought! IT IS ALL VERY DIFFICULT OKAY. MOST DIFFICULT THING IN THE WORLD, INCEPTION. You just have to wonder how easy it would've been if Fischer's mind wasn't militarized.

Know what bothers me? The car falling into the water was the kick that brought them from the second level to the first, right? So now they're all in the water, and they can't kill themselves to get out of the dream because the drug's too heavy and they'd go into limbo. They said during the planning of the job that the 9 hour flight would be a couple of days in the first level, couple weeks in the second, ten YEARS OMG in the third, SO MY QUESTION IS: did they just hang out in the first level for a few days? IDK why no one's bothered by this. Maybe I'm just missing something.

Totally not too harsh, feel free to complain about movies to me, haha. (Don't tell me if you think Tom Hardy's ugly though.)
