The first class is hard, then you push yourself harder. The main things to know: 1.) Your, uh, butt will hurt. But not your butt. We like to call it the taint. ;) I feel off even writing it, but I have no other words. This will hurt way bad for the first couple days after, then never hurt again. It remembers! 2.) KEEP YOUR LEGS MOVING. If you can't speed up or stand up or need to take a breather, it's fine, just keep your legs moving, even if it's leisurely pedal. Once the legs stop, the whole thing will seem to shut down and it'll be hard getting the momentum to go again.
Depending on the instructor, the class can be wicked intimidating. I seem to do better when classes are dark (which is common in spin, they turn off the lights to get you into the zone) and the instructor is yelling or shouting cadence, but that's just me. I took a close friend of mine to one and she was like, "Yeah, I totally get why you like this." But having people yell towards them doesn't motivate all folks. It's not boot camp, mind you. But it's loud and the instructor is yelling out instructions/positions over the music, so it could get a little rowdy.
Thanks! I'm hoping to see the 210s again this year. I'm getting there!
