Halloween
What a freakin' night I had at my gig on Halloween.
I didn't go on till about midnight. I didn't really get to spin my set until after 1 am though.
Between live acts I had to drop a song in between. The first time I dropped My Mind's Playing Tricks on Me. It is Texas and "not even Halloween", oh wait it was. It went over well. You can't go wrong with that song in Texas. After the next act, I threw in the song I knew I had to play on Halloween, Thriller. People lost their shit. I was cracking up when I saw people doing the Thriller dance. Then the last band took the stage. They did about an hour. They were killing. They really have something. They have it. I think if the right ears hear them, they will blow the fuck up. The energy at the end of their show was so high. This DJ from earlier told me, I gotta come stong or everyone is going to leave after they finished. I had a great set planned out, all that got thrown out the window. I grabbed Kanye's Gold Digger, that shit is fire. I didn't like that song the first time I heard it, then it just clicked. I went into Brand New from Rhymefest. After that I went to Lil' Kim's Lighters Up. I swear that is the best Lauryn Hill song that Lauryn Hill didn't do. A few more songs I start mixing in only instrumentals to let mc's get on the mic. At one point Orion had the whole crowd chanting my name. I think toward the end there were like twelve chicks on stage. I kept the crowd going till the management shut me down. I got some other gigs on the horizen.
I have come to the conclusion, I am ready to start a steady gig. I would like to do a monthly gig and just promote the hell out it. I might be down for a weekly but that is too much like work. I just gotta find a partner. I don't want to spin four hours solo. That once again is too much like work. I would prefer to split it with another DJ.
