I havent been updating much, and now that I look back at it, it isnt just because of the lack of excitment in ffxi as of late, but its the lack of happiness. I havent been happy running things recently, and well, things finally started to change on Sunday, for better or for worse, less than a week after we were to do our first wyrm with Bloodstone ( Read more... )

Wow Jay that sounds pretty rough. I know exactly what you mean though, being an officer/leader isn't an easy job because you sometimes have to make decisions that aren't always popular. It's also even more difficult when you're criticized for those decisions and you've put a ton of thought into. People aren't perfect, thus LS leaders and officers aren't either but a lot of times people expect you to be perfect and always make the right decisions. Being a leader takes away a lot from the game and you know just as well as I do that there is an innocence that is lost when you start leading people; you aren't just playing a game anymore, you're running a LS.

I have made a lot of mistakes in leading JE, from emotional outbursts in LS over something trivial and stupid to taking personal blame for someone leaving the LS; but I've learned that while I'm responsible for my own actions, I can't be responsible for others actions. I don't know the situation that you're in exactly, but there are two sides to every story. You can't blame yourself for people making people leave or being upset unless that was your intention all along, you can only listen, open a dialogue, and offer solutions to problems people are having. Something tells me though that you didn't intend on hurting anyone’s feelings or pushing people out, so really what is there to blame?

You've made the choice to be a leader in a LS, something that not a lot of people are capable of. LastStands has been around as long as JE and even though it may be going through some rough times right now I think with a lot of hard work and discussion with your current members things will bounce back.
