I got the new issue of Mojo recently. It had a huge feature on Joy Division to tie in with the upcoming film by Anton Corbjin (or however you spell it) which could either be brilliant or a huge disaster plus they did a CD of depressing songs inspired by Joy Division. They also had a couple of mentions of Iggy/The Stooges (they're releasing a new album in 2007 so I hope they tour, Nick Cave is also releasing one under the name Grinderman so I hope he tours as well as I missed him the last time he played Newcastle and I was gutted!). Plus an article on John Cooper Clarke the punk poet and a big interview with John Cale --- I like some of his solo stuff especially Guts.
I was also listening to the Vulgaras album Year of the Whore today, they are a performance art/shock rock band from New York. I believe their lead singer Velocity Chyld is a sex worker who does a lot of campaigning for the rights of sex workers. It's a really heavy album, some very fast hard music and she has a strong voice without screaming, reminds me of certain punk singers like Patti Smith in places or even someone like Diamandas Galas. She also has a couple of very strange spoken word pieces like Hooker Barbie that kind of remind me of some of Lydia Lunch's stuff. and I hear they are amazing live.

Oh and a happy New Year to everyone.
