Stoned (Brian Jones film)

I saw Stoned again as I wanted to rewatch it for the Ben Whishaw as Keith Richards scenes + I got it v.cheap online. I'd previously said it was one of the worst films I've ever seen - OK, I will revise my opinion + say it wasn't that bad but it wasn't that great.

It tells the story of the events leading up to Brian Jones death. They made a decision to concentrate on all the mind games he was playing w/Frank Thorogood (the builder who allegedly killed him) and personally altho' I understand that I wish they'd concentrated more on his relationship with the rest of the band and with Anita Pallenberg.

I thought Monet Mazur did a good job as Anita - not so sure about Leo Gregory who played Brian. I actually really liked Ben Whishaw as Keith Richards - it's just a shame he's only in the film for about 10 minutes at most - they are a very pretty 10 minutes tho'. I think it was the loss of Anita combined with the rise of Mick and Keith as the songwriting partnership in the band that caused Brian's already fragile psyche to unravel. It's a shame he couldn't get himself together because I think he did have real talent - altho' let's be honest, he was also a bit of a twat.

The film also features Paddy Considine (as Frank) David Morrissey and a blink+you'll-miss-it cameo from David Walliams as the Stones accountant.

I'm pretty sure Monet Mazur used to be a model + she used to date Dave Navarro in the 90s but I could be wrong.

(I know some ppl might say Ben Whishaw was too vulnerable to play Keith but Keith himself talks about how he was quite shy and introverted in the early days of the band + it wasn't until he got together with Anita that he really came out of his shell. I do think Keith really loved Anita + that they'd probably have stayed together if she'd come off the drugs when he had)
