I quite liked the twist in the last episode of Utopia tho' for some reason the series never really caught on with me, it was OK but I didn't really love it.

Got the new issue of Classic Pop - it had a great interview w/Adam Ant plus articles on Japan's Gentlemen Take Polaroids, New Order, the Coventry music scene and the top 20 1980s movie soundtracks (Blade Runner got Number 1). They also had reviews of the Fuzzbox and Transvision Vamp reissues.

I managed to get a copy of The Hedonist's Guide to Life from an Oxfam shop - some great bits of writing in it tho' it was a bit sad to read Sebastian Horsley's (artist who's memoirs were called Dandy in the Underworld) article about death when he died a few years ago of a drug overdose. I really liked his memoirs, he had a great turn of phrase.

Also got The Coldest War (which is part 2 of the Milkweed Trilogy and the sequel to Bitter Seeds) - I enjoyed it but you have to really have read the 1st book for it to make any sense, it doesn't really work as a standalone book I think. But I am really looking forward to how the trilogy concludes given the twist at the end of Book 2).

I also quite enjoyed Meet the Izzards where Eddie Izzard traced his DNA thro time/around the world even if a lot of it did just consist of him going Oh Wow! but then I could pretty much just watch that for ages - I have had a crush on him for many years. There was something very sexy about him when he dressed up as an Ice Age person & pretended to box a bear in a windtunnel.

book review, eddie izzard, fuzzbox, transvision vamp, adam ant, television, magazines
