And that's where I'm going this Friday, for exactly those reasons.

I'm 41, and just had this discussion with my father, who is now 3+ years into his diagnosis for it, and he's 82.

From the first day of putting it up, which was within a week or two of his original diagnosis in 2010, my brother's CaringBridge site had (and still has) in the header:

"If you are due for a colonoscopy, schedule it ASAP. If you are overdue for a colonoscopy, SCHEDULE IT TODAY!"

I had my first one (after two previous sigmoidoscopies) this past February. I never intend to be late for one.

I'm picking up janeehawkins this afternoon from her one-year follow-up colonoscopy, as it happens, and hoping that it's much better than last year's. I'm due for my five-year colonoscopy this fall.

Thanks for your continual reminders. I know you didn't intend to have a tertiary career as a publisc service announcement, but you've done a good job at this task thrust upon you.

Over-60 and up to date on colonoscopy and mammograms. Recent skin check because my sister has basal cell carcinoma. HPV negative so no more Paps.

Eating my broccoli, just to be sure.
