I am speaking out, on today, the day of the LJ strike. Why? Because to alot of people this strike seems like a small thing, something which will not make a difference to anyone, something which does not effect them.
I agree 100% with standing up for your rights, for what YOU belive in..
To quote:-
First they came for the Communists, and I didn’t speak up,
because I wasn’t a Communist.
Then they came for the sick, the so-called incurables, and I didn't speak up,
because I wasn't mentally ill.
Then they came for the Jews, and I didn’t speak up,
because I wasn’t a Jew.
Then they came for me, and by that time there was no one left
to speak up for me.
Far to many liberties are lost because people won't stand up, won't vote, won't be counted. In the UK we've lost so many rights. I have a bio-metic passport, AGAINST MY WISHES, because we the people did not fight, because we the people did not vote. We will soon as National ID cards, our DNA recorded on a data base (which will go missing), our lives totaly regulated by the government. They were going to tag bins so that they knew who had thrown out what!
I live in a country where my rights.. I don't have any rights, lets face it! I live in a country where my internet provider is attempting to monitor every page I visit so that they can sell that information to advertisers...
So yes, it might seem like a small thing which is happening on LJ, removal of key words, removal of basic accounts, but what next? Monitoring of your tags to see if they can target you?...
Stand up. Make a stand, please don't ever sit back and say 'it won't effect me', because one day it will and there will be no on left to fight for you.
