Black Smoke, Rise Up!

Feb 25, 2009 16:56

 Black Smoke rises up
The dead of heat on a winter’s night

A crackling of a fire softly burns

The fresh smell of the new rising from the old

Now tell me Blackbird, as you rise into the air

Tell me what have you done tonight?

Destruction leads to creation

The ashes are its proof.

For once, I’m not drunk and I’m not sad.

There is nothing inside that I want back.

But I just got to ask.

Do you wonder how I am tonight?

But don’t look for solace in my eyes

Not every tear means you’re going to cry.

So let the smoke rise up

From the depths below

There was nothing but dust

And the layers are finally healing, so.

Let the smoke rise up

Coming from the deep

Can you hear the blackbird singing along?

The waking of a long winter’s sleep

Old desires are bored and new ones are born

Times for change and skies are opening

The black pool washes away

Where old thoughts break off exploding into space

Time is passing us rapid

Dancing off into the distance

Hell-bent and dignified always the head-strong

Never wrong.

From the ashes of my heart

Comes an army of one

Marching back up the steps

Getting on that high horse once more.

With pale faces and hallow eyes

Not every smiles means

That I’m not empty inside

Laughing! Laughing! Laughing!

So let the smoke rise up

From the depths below

There was nothing but dust

But now I’m watching you go!

Let the smoke rise up

Coming from the deep

Can you hear the blackbird singing along?

The waking from a long winter’s sleep

From the cold grip of past

From the Ashes of the depth

Let the smoke rise up

Let a blackbird sing

Ray of shine burn bright

From the bottom of my heart

New desire burns

Singing ballads into the Sun.
