I Still Have a Job!
Work has been particularly difficult recently. Last year my company decided on a major 'restructure' where all managers and supervisors would have to reapply for a job - not quite the one they were doing already (due to the reorganisation), but around 80% the same.
There were formal structured interviews, tests of verbal and numerical reasoning, and technical tests on job knowledge. The whole process lasted for months, and caused a great deal of stress and worry - especially as we knew there were fewer new roles available than existing staff.
Today I found out that I'm one of the lucky ones. I still have a job, and still in the area where I currently work, with a new job title of 'Team Manager - Services'. It's a huge relief, and I feel as if a great weight has been lifted - but I feel for my colleagues who have been doing their job for years, and did it well; but perhaps didn't perform so well in interviews, or in verbal/numerical tests.
