An unusual day at work

Dec 13, 2007 15:00

On what I thought was to be just another Thursday at work, this happened:
  • One of our students got suspended from school due to severe verbal threats towards a teacher ("If I were you I'd watch my back, cuz I think something bad is gonna happen to you when you step outside."). He is not allowed to enter this building until the end of this year, when he can show what he's capable of in an external programme.
  • Another student got evicted because he threatened to harm, well, general safety at school for the 2nd time. He was "gonna get him some bullets to use at school." How insane does one have to get to say (or do) something like that? It turns out he actually is as nutty as a fruitcake. His previous school (that has kicked him out as well) refrained from mentioning his mental state...
  • On our DPD (Dutch prohibited day) we actually got to speak English -and nothing but English- during class, and guess what; students actually seemed to like it. One class turned completely silent -they kept working on their assignment like rabbits on procreation- and the second couldn't stop talking... swear-words, swear-words and nothing but swear-words. It's amazing to hear them actually create grammatically correct phrases this way (which is 100% opposite of what I'm used to when they speak retail lingo).
  • It's final: Next Friday our retail students will head down south for a one-day trip to Paris, a metropolis I've never been. And guess who's coming along to guide them? Moi! I've never been much of a Paris enthusiast, but I'm actually looking forward to visiting that city only three days prior to X-mas.
