Another weekend just passed by

Yep! It's Monday morning again. The start of another week at work.

Weird enough, we didn't have anything at all on our schedule of last Saturday (which hadn't happened in months), so Nicole, Maikel, Monique and myself decided to go for a swim in Hapert's swimmers' paradise. Sam hadn't been to one in a while, and, as we rediscovered soon after arrival, there's nothing Sam likes more than swimming pools. It is so much fun seeing him splashing, jumping and sailing in those waters. Needless to say, he didn't get any day-time sleep at all that day, so we expected him to be all coma-like during our dinner in a house of pancakes. We couldn't be any further from the truth. He had the time of his life. That evening at the Loots' house not too big a variety of noises was heard. Apart from snoring that is. Sam had his bed, Nicole and myself felt too comfortable on the sofa.

Sunday promised a whole lot of activities. Ed, one of our neighbouring fathers, celebrated the 50th anniversary of his career. To us, that meant visiting church in the morning, and possibly a party afterwards. When we arrived it appeared we weren't the only ones to attend the celebration of a great human being. There were almost 700 of us, from all over the world, who, somehow, wanted to contribute to his anniversary, and even security guards were deployed. BTW During the mass Sam showed us how difficult it is to satisfy him on the spot for a longer period of time, cuz all he wants to do is walk, climb and crawl. But we managed to keep him happy, during those 2.5 hours of mass.

After the mass, we had to hurry in order to witness Karlijn initiate her run at the Tilburg Ten Miles. It turned out, she did a great job (considering she'd never ran that distance before in her life). It took her 61 minutes to reach the finish line. (FYI she participated in the 10 kms run.) It's kinda weird to see her do that, cuz she never really had the reputation to do such a thing. Yesterday, Floor and myself decided to participate next year, so I'd better start hitting those tracks. We have got to be able to break that family record.

Oh, we watched United 93. Wow, what an impressive film that is! I can tell you one thing: I'm happy I wasn't among the passengers of that flight. I'm also happy the film wasn't covered by a cinematic sauce I usually loathe: the thick Hollywood Money Sauce. The way it was made seemed as real as it probably has been when the hijack took place.
