"Teppen mezase!"

After watching the TegoMass concert last weekend, plus the first episode of Code Blue 2, I've been in an incredible NEWS high. Work has been taking a lot of my time and I guess I didn't realize I needed some cheering up. Something to make me enjoy mornings because the sun is shining and breath deeply when the summer breeze passes me while I'm going back home in the afternoon.

I guess I am one of those people that take seriously the lyrics of songs when they tell me to cheer up, enjoy the ride and never give up. I don't really remember paying attention to songs like that before I met NEWS. I've always been more into songs with really dramatic lyrics that give me really dramatic performances, or hearing rock-ish sounds without paying much attention to lyrics, except when they have powerful political and social messages. Instead, now I hear Massu singing in a sweet, candy-like voice "everything is gonna be alright" and somehow I buy it, it makes me smile and I take the longer route to work so I can walk a little bit more.

I guess that, for all the attention I've been giving the kpop fandom lately, even when they have no activities for MONTHS and MONTHS, NEWS is still my favorite pop group out there. And I'm certainly more comfortable with how the entertainment world works in Japan than in Korea, China and/or Taiwan.

I ended up watching the Diamond and the Pacific concerts during the week. And their documentaries, along with TegoMass' one for their concert as well (which I LOVED and it showed an even bigger contrast with the one I watched of KAT-TUN, editing and content-wise).

I also watched several Soukon episodes. It's a shame that show has such a lame plot idea behind it, because with that crew and those four as the focus, it still manages to be quite fun. Specially when the crew members just keep making the IDOLS look bad. That totally wouldn't have worked with Ryo and Pi in the show. I specially enjoyed the episode in the Zoo because only a show like that would lose two hours in a traffic jam and have to tape everything in an hour before they end up without natural light. And of course, watching Massu getting crazy scared with animals is always fun! The episode about Shige training to not be so incredible slow was pretty touching as well. Things like that are pretty much why I believe them when they sing to me to "do, do, do your best! I'll give myself to you" XD (ok, so I'm talking about the first part only, I'm not delusional!)

And of course, there's Code Blue 2. I'm very, very happy it's doing well in ratings AND in critics, and it totally deserves it. As people are saying, it seems to be better now than the first season. What people aren't saying is that it's a better season BECAUSE it's the second one, and it doesn't have to deal with all the things that have already been explained in the first one. The thing is, most second seasons aren't as good as the first ones because writers and directors don't take advantage of the development of the story and the characters and just seek putting them in new situations. Thankfully, that's not the case now. When I watched Code Blue (1), the first thing I said after finished it was that a second season was a very good idea considering the plot and the characters. The narrative structure allowed to create new stories without abusing the characters storylines, mostly because the characters grew through their work, mostly, with each case they worked on and facing present tragedy over past issues, which are pretty fun if done right, but they work better when you show them further along the way, like in a second season! And the characters have change and grow so much this past year and a half! There's certainly a lot less miracle cases than the first time around, which is depressing, but more realistic. And damn, I like Shiraishi being the cold-hearted one now! Specially if it means we will get more bitch slapping between her and Hiyama like in episode 2 (Have I mention I think Yui and Erika make a really hot couple? they have the chemistry!). I hope more people get into watching this because it's a good drama and I have positive comments on every aspect of the final delivery done in every episode until now!

I finally got a proper project to work on in my internship. It's a lot of work, but so far is do-able. I just hope NEWS keeps they word when they say "I wish you luck as you aim for your dreams" XD I need it!
