OK, so a wierd time is being had in Chez Drury at the moment.

Charlie got a phone call last Sunday to say that a very good friend of hers was dead. Not pleasant normally, but not entire unusual - by your 30s, you tend to have seen a few funerals.

However, this particuar friend has been murdered. The details still aren't entirely clear, but you can ready the story in the Western Mail here -> http://www.walesonline.co.uk/news/cardiff-news/2009/06/08/man-arrested-after-dad-found-dead-91466-23819221/

Now, Ant Kitely grew up with Charlie. They've know each other for years, and used to hang around a lot - his Mum and Charlie's mum are best friends. I kinda knew him to speak to - in fact I saw him just a few weeks ago. He's a totally harmless guy.

It's a bit of an odd thing, knowing someone who not only died, but was killed out of turn, as it were. I'm OK with it, mainly cos i didn't know him that well but also cos death really doesn't bother me that much - it never has. However, Charlie's pretty cut up.

My dilemma is I don't know how to approach it for her sake. Never having dealt with it myself, and being emotionally pretty cold anyway, I have no idea what to say, and what to avoid.

I guess there's also a certain lack of closure for her, as she doesn't know the details of the killing, or the reasons (though there's suspicion it's revenge for Ant testifying against somneone), and she hasn't been to the funeral yet. That's going to be a while off, as there's post mortems, CID, forensics etc to do before the body can be released.

Hey ho - I guess it'll all pan out in time.
