Nancy and I went out into the rain yesterday afternoon, determined to enjoy our day off together. As we exited the subway station in Chinatown where we planned to do some shopping, the confetti and streamers on the street reminded us that there was a Chinese New Years celebration going on! We had forgotten all about it but were lucky enough to be there to enjoy the crowd's enthusiasm. Everyone was cheering and laughing despite the weather, even the police were especially happy. There is one picture of a police officer taking a photo of a group of people for them.
After dinner and a movie, we took a walk in Central Park. The rain had let up and it was calm and almost warm outside, and there was thick fog in the lower areas of the park and around the lakes. Most of my pictures of the night scenery didn't come out, but there is one with the city lights reflecting off of the foggy lake.
