some VividCon vid recs
I haven't even started going through the DVDs, so I know there is a lot I have missed (particularly in Club Vivid), but for now, here is a quick and dirty recs list just to get started:
- I Swear by greensilver, dualbunny, and sweetestrain (Smallville) - aka The Vid that Broke the Con. This is the best crack I have ever had the pleasure of experiencing, and I got to do it in a room of 130 people all feeling it right along with me. This vid had me literally screaming at the screen (emotionally! WE WERE INVESTED OKAY). There were tears of laughter. It received a standing ovation, the first time I have ever seen that at VVC. I will forever remember the joy of watching this vid for the first time. Forever. I am not even kidding.
- Freakum Dress by sweetestdrain (Batman) - My favorite Club Vivid vid I've seen so far, and god, do I love it. Y'all, they put on their freakum dresses and FIGHT CRIME. ♥
- Blow by winterevanesce (Sucker Punch) - This song has been my jam all year (but omg remix!!), and this movie is visual candy, but it takes a kickass vidder like Kitty to really bring the best out of both. She is one of the best around at matching action sequences to musical riffs, and that pushes all my buttons. This vid had me constantly saying "wow."
- High Voltage by kuwdora (Stargate universe) - I don't give a flying crap about Stargate, but this vid is gorgeous work.
- Music Again by f1renze (Karate Kid) - Their love is so pure! I want to draw sparkly hearts all over this vid.
- Roll With the Changes by fan_eunice (How to Train Your Dragon) - This vid is so fun, so shiny, so adorable, and it will warm your heart. Expertly done on all accounts.
