NEW VID: "Lucky"

This was my Club Vivid premiere for this year. This is officially the longest I've ever waited to release a vid, as I made it over New Year's weekend. So ready to get it out into the world!

After finishing my "I feel like I'm cheating by using source with people dancing" trifecta of Club Vivid vids, I went into this year with no real idea of what I was going to do. I wasn't against the idea of finding more dancing films, but I didn't feel like I needed to do that anymore to make a dance vid, and that is a big step for me. Really, it's the song that makes a vid danceable, not the source. And I knew my song would work.

In fall of 2009, bradcpu and I went halfsies on the new B-sides collection from Black Lab, which I admit underwhelmed me, save for this song. Right away I knew it would be my Club Vivid song if I could find the right source. (Yes, this is the third time I have vidded Black Lab for VVC. I LIKE THEM OKAY?) The song sounded like either a sexy "hey baby, I'm a total badass" kind of song, or maybe something I could work into a game/sport context. No real ideas, but I had all the time in the world to figure it out. The source always eventually finds me.

This also happened to be around the time I was really getting into poker, and I went on a little poker movie spree. I grabbed 21 just for kicks. (I don't give a shit about blackjack but I liked the premise of the film, so why not.) Rounders is a great film but in no way would work for the vid. (I feel like I had another poker movie that I just can't remember right now, too.) Then I watched 21, and about halfway through I realized that it had everything I needed: a slew of cheesy CGI effects (see opening sequence), a guy pushing his luck, and a love story woven in. There was even that crazy chase sequence at the end of the film that went on forever! Jackpot!

I made the vid in about a day and a half back in December, then did about ten rounds of tweaking over the next few months. This vid has been polished so many times, it should be blinding. It's not perfect (no vid ever is), but I sure did try. Hopefully you'll have as much fun watching it as I did making it.
