I have an iPod and a PC. When I connect the former to the latter, I would like it to automatically copy over the most recent podcast(s) from a certain directory on the PC, onto the iPod. This should not require any user interaction after plugging in the iPod ( Read more... )

I found out today that there is a beta version of Skype for Linux with video, so I used it to talk to my parents. (These helpful instructions helped me get it working, since it's a 32-bit binary package, and I run a 64-bit OS.)

So that's one less reason to boot into Windows. Which leaves me with only one.

It took a while to figure out what I was looking for. It's the type of component that lets you make one of those continuously turning control knobs that seem to be popular on modern electronic devices.

I feel an urge to re-learn some electronics and build stuff.

Over on my other blog, a quick update of progress on my projects. (BTW I've also got that blog syndicated on LJ as jaq_junction)

I've been playing with _why's Try Ruby. It's an interactive Ruby tutorial that runs in your browser.

I'm quite impressed with the implementation, but since I know Ruby already the tutorial didn't teach me anything. I'd be interested to hear what non-Rubyists or non-programmers make of it.

Having spent some of the weekend working on styling, my new blog is ready for launch. The idea is that it can be more of a public and professional face for me, since my Livejournal is mostly personal stuff and 'what I did at the weekend ( Read more... )

I was annoyed yesterday that I couldn't find an address I wanted, so I started thinking about whether I could use some kind of shared addressbook on my web server.

Looking around I found Sync Kolab, which is an extension for Thunderbird that can store the addressbook entries in an IMAP folder. I thought this sounded ideal ( Read more... )
