About two weeks ago, I posted a
translation of a White Jam song, and it was then that I realised that I haven't really mentioned them here before, so today's post is all about why I love this band, and why I think you would/should, too! ^_^
First, a quick intro: WHITE JAM is a Japanese three-member pop band consisting of SHIROSE (leader, vocals, writer), NIKKI(female vocals), and GASHIMA (rapper, writer). They debuted officially in 2014, making this year their tenth year of being active. Music, visuals, performance...they're good at it all! Their fans are called 'JAMILY'. ^_^ Why am I a JAMILY and why should you be one, too? Read below! ~_^
1. Awesome Music
First off; their music is AWESOME! Listen to any song of theirs; it's always super catchy, absolutely beautiful and dreamy.
'Sakanaide' was the first White Jam song I heard; and I loved both the music and the creative MV:

Isn't it so beautiful?! 🥹💗 The song and the video are both perfect; that's what I thought when I first discovered it and that's how I still feel. ❤️
Whatever you're doing, whatever mood you're in, a White Jam song goes well with it. Speaking of which...
2. Range of Emotions
An interesting thing about White Jam is the range of emotions their songs cover and cause to their listeners! Their fans are known to be giggling in one part of their concerts, and literally crying in another! ^_^ T_T
Obviously, you'll want an example by now, so I highly reccommend 'Magnet', and 'Wagamama'. Those are two of my favourite White Jam songs, and you'll not only see how beautiful their music is, you'll also see the range of emotions conveyed if you watch their live performances. ^^ Here's a little demo:

[A live performance of Wagamama; (gosh, this song is gold - and Shirose's live singing is no joke); also, notice the tears of the audience! ♡]
You can search up 'Magnet' yourself, LOL. I don't dare post its video here! ^_^;
Okay, I'll admit that is a little bit of cheating because those two were both from Shirose's solo album. But what can I do, he's my favourite - more on that later!
3. Soulful Vocals
Another thing I really like about White Jam is their soulful singing; listen to anything of theirs, and even if the song is not your type at first, the singing will make you want to keep on listening; you won't be able to stop. And it's not only in the recorded versions; it's in the live performances as well! You've already seen Shirose perform Wagamama above; you can see Nikki make her fans cry with her words and her singing below:

4. Shirose!
Yes, I love all three members, of course! ♡♡♡ They all add a unique colour to the group. But Shirose, who is the group leader and main vocalist plus writer of all their songs definitely shines the brightest, in my opinion. As for me, I'll admit that I became a JAMILY solely due to Shirose, and he is still my favourite member. ❤️ What do I like best about him, you may ask?...hmm, what do I not like about him would be a better question! His singing is so beautiful; even when he just randomly starts singing without any music accompaniment, he sounds really good! That's due to a combination of good technique and a naturally beautiful voice! Then, he writes really good songs, not only for White Jam but for other bands as well! (Including KAT-TUN, V6, Super Junior, TVXQ, etc) And last but not least, he looks really, really, good! 😍 Which leads to the next point:
5. Hot factor
One key aspect of White Jam is what I call the hot factor.🔥 Whatever you see in the average MV or concert performance is a certain level of that factor. But with White Jam (and especially Shirose), they have broken that gauge and reached a whole new level which you won't see anywhere else. O_O Needless to say, if you're under 13 (or even 15?!), please stick to the audio versions of their tracks and DO NOT watch their videos! I'm not going to give any links here, go to White Jam official YouTube and see for yourself. ^_^ Gosh, I still remember the shock I got when I explored their YouTube page for the first time and quickly realised the sweet Sakanaide MV which led me there was actually an anomaly. ^_^;
This 'hot' aspect of theirs is a sort of two-sided coin; on the one hand, it's one of their defining points: every fan knows what to expect when they click on a White Jam MV or go to their concert, and they get it, and it makes them happy. On the other hand, White Jam can sometimes go a little overboard (especially Shirose), and it's the only thing that I don't like about them. There's a point where they cross even the lowest levels of decency/appropriateness and sometimes I really wish they wouldn't go that far. If I ever get to meet Shirose, I would really like to tell him to tone it down a little bit, as it would still be just as 'hot' if he did. But honestly, I don't think he would. Like I said before, it's one of their defining points; and any White Jam fan knows what they're in for when they enter the fandom; so the choice is yours. If you're the kind of person who doesn't like that kind of over-romantic, over-sensual, and sometimes highly inappropriate stuff, you have been warned! But please, even if you choose not to engage with the visual content, don't let that stop you from enjoying their music; like I said before, it's totally worth listening to. ^_^
6. Cute factor
A stark contrast from the previous point, but just as true! This is one of the things that makes them so likeable! I'm not going to say anymore, I'm going to visually demonstrate this one! ^_^ Here's a clip of their latest track, 'Kareshi Dekiru Song':

See how wholesome that was? 😍✨️
And here's Shirose's cute twin brother who has no idea what actually happened in the concerts and MVs and is only telling us innocently about them: (no, it's the same person!)

Even if you don't understand a word he's saying, you've still got to agree with me that this was the cutest, sweetest video ever! 💘
And finally, here's White Jam dressed up as Y2K high-schoolers for Halloween this year:
Hmm, is that cute, though, or charming? Or both?? ^^
And that, everyone, is all the reasons why I love White Jam! I hope I managed to convince you to be a JAMILY, too! ^^
BTW, do you know what Shirose's dream is? It's to have fans all over the world and do a world tour one day! If you become a fan, he'll be one step closer to his dream! ^_^♡
And that's all! White Jam is touring Japan this December, so look out for that! 🎵
Have another Shirose, to make your day:
またね!♡
