Director Nishikawa Miwa (“Dear Doctor,” “Yureru”) is working on a new movie titled “Yume Uru Futari,” starring Matsu Takako (34) and Abe Sadao (41).

Matsu and Abe play a married couple who run a small restaurant, but one day they lose their shop and all of their assets in a fire. Unable to give up their dream of running a restaurant, they are determined to do whatever it takes to raise enough money to start over. They ultimately decide to get that money through a series of marriage frauds, with the wife (Matsu) picking out the target women and devising the plans, while the husband (Abe) actually carries out the fraud.

Nishikawa has reportedly been working on the story since about 5 years ago. She researched for the movie by talking to women who had actually encountered marriage fraud and detectives who had investigated the incidents. She began writing the screenplay at the start of this year.

Filming will begin on August 20 and is expected to finish in early October. The movie is scheduled for release in Japan in autumn 2012.

In the past couple years, Matsu starred in the award-winning films “Kokuhaku” and “Viyon no Tsuma.” Abe’s last starring movie role was in “Nakumonka” in 2009, but he also had one of the lead roles in the hit television drama “Marumo no Okite” this past spring.
