Hollywood film companies are in talks with Fuji TV to see if a remake of Junichi Okada’s “SP movie” would be possible, it was revealed at the movie’s preview event in Tokyo on February 24, reports Mainichi Shimbun Digital and Ticket Pia news.
The V6 pop star and the cast of “SP THE MOTION PICTURE 革命篇 (Kakumei volume, Revolution volume)” had appeared at the event, where more than 4000 fans had gathered to hear the latest news.
“I thought it was amazing. What’s going to happen. Are they going to replace ‘SP’ with ‘Secret Service’ or something. I’m really curious to know who would play what characters,” Okada said.
It has been reported the 30-year-old pop star said if a deal is sealed, he hopes Hollywood film makers would choose SP’s original Japanese script writer and director to head the project.
But putting the news aside, Okada had said he was too excited about the Japanese film’s release next month.
“We worked really hard to finish SP’s Revolution movie. All of us had to overcome our own challenges. I was so nervous yesterday that I couldn’t get to sleep. I wonder what I’ll be like on the day,” he said.
The upcoming SP movie will mark an end to the story’s drama series and its first movie which opened in cinemas last October.
“Thank you so much for staying with us to the end.
“Now finally, everything will become clear,” Okada told yesterday’s crowd.
“SP THE MOTION PICTURE 革命篇 (Kakumei volume, Revolution volume)” opens in theatres in Japan on March 12.
