2010 was quite a successful year for Japanese cinemas and distributors, as the total box office revenue of all Japanese and foreign movies opening in Japan increased by 7.1% and came out to over 2.6 billion USD.
Unfortunately, Hollywood was able to completely occupy the top 3 with “Avatar“, “Alice in Wonderland“, and “Toy Story 3“, but fans of Japanese movies don’t have to worry. Japanese movies were responsible for 53.6% of the total box office revenue, and therefore managed to exceed foreign movies for the third consecutive year.
Ticket sales is one thing, but what about the satisfaction? The mobile portal of goo/NTT DoCoMo has asked their users to give them their opinion, and they made a poll to determine which of the 10 most successful Japanese movies of 2010 were received with the most positive feedback.
