Which singers do girls want to give and receive chocolate from on Valentine’s Day?
On February 4th, ringtone website Recochoku launched a special poll, asking girls to vote for which male singer they would most like to give chocolate to on Valentine’s Day, and which female singer they would most like to receive chocolate from.
In Japan, Valentine’s Day is holiday where only girls give chocolate. Although girls may give honmei choko to a guy they have a crush on, it is just as common for girls to give chocolates to bosses, friends, and even other girls. (Men return the favor on March 14th, a Japanese holiday called, “White Day”.)
The number one male celebrity girls wanted to give chocolate to was the singer Kamiji Yusuke, also known by his stage name Yusuke. Girls chose Yusuke for his friendly nature, and because they could easily imagine him taking their chocolate with an innocent smile on his face.
YUI was the most popular choice for the celebrity that girls would most like to receive chocolate from. “I want her to hand chocolate to me because she would do it in a cool manner but would look embarrassed about giving it to me,” girls in their teens replied, while girls in their twenties preferred to imagine YUI singing her song “CHE.R.RY” while giving them Valentine’s chocolate.
