One of the first “magical girl” manga and anime in Japan, “Himitsu no Akko-chan“, is in the process of being turned into a live-action movie this fall, and the tabloid “Shukan Jitsuwa” claims to know who is going to star in it.
According to the tabloid, we are going to see actress Ayase Haruka (25) as the heroine “Akko”, and Fukada Kyoko (28), aka Fukakyon, as the villain, a princess of the underworld.
“Akko-chan has become a senior high student now. Ayase is going to disguise herself as Akko-chan and is trying find out the cause of all the strange things that have been happening at her school lately.
On the other hand, Fukakyon has also received the offer to play the new student that has transfered to Akko-chan’s school. She is actually a princess of the underworld and aims to take over the school. There is going to be a big confrontation between magical girl Akko-chan and Fukakyon who has all kinds of evil spirits under her command,” a movie insider has told the tabloid.
There are rumors for the other roles as well, as Funakoshi Eiichiro and Kuroki Hitomi are supposed to play the parents of Akko-chan. Additionally, Oguri Shun is rumored to become her boyfriend, while Fujiwara Tatsuya is going to spread the evilness as the devil king. Comedian Tsukaji Muga has been mentioned for the role as Taisho, the mischievous classmate of Akko-chan.
Behind the scenes, it seems like Fuji TV is trying everything to get Ayase signed to at least one of their major projects this year. Originally they wanted to cast her as the heroine in the next movie adaption of the upcoming drama, “Diplomat Kuroda Kosaku“, called “Diplomat Kuroda Kosaku and the Treasure of Ali Baba“. However, Ayase’s agency has already turned down their offer, and at the same time denied that there is going to be a movie adaption of “JIN“. This means that Ayase still has plenty of time for a new project after the second season of “JIN”.
Fuji TV had another trump card up their sleeves though. We were supposed to see a live-action drama adaption of “Lupin the Third” starring Ichikawa Ebizo and Ayase Haruka this summer season, but Ichikawa’s recent incident has pushed back the project quite a bit. Now they at least want “Himitsu no Akko-chan” to open in cinemas by the end of the year and they are hoping for a positive response from Ayase.
