Babe, what I want to know is where are you finding stories because, ever since... season six, I haven't been able to find any anywhere! I just go back and reread the ones I have saved in my HD. *g*

It's mostly rereading. It's been ages since I read a lot of stories, so it all feels fresh again. But CSI Forensics is still open -- I plan to check out the goods there soon -- and there's still csi_slash and gil_nick_slash, although I'm not sure how busy they are -- I plan to check 'em out too, though.

Man, GE is looking fiiiiine these days, that's for sure.

I'm so going there in a second!

Also, I've been going through some recaps of the last season and... dude, did Sara and Gil actually got married? Because it said something about Sara meeting Gil's mother (her mother in law) and I was all blinking at the screen. Wasn't she dead? Or was that just the fandom and I thought it was canon? *confused*

oh_no_nicky! I can proudly say that CSI was my first fandom (and the gateway to SPN fandom) and Grave Danger pretty much changed my life.

brb, looking through my delicious for CSI fics

It wasn't my first, but man, was it ever my longest-lasting. Even now, it really holds some power over me, I think.

Mmm, you really made me like that pairing (and the show, really), but I never read very much beyond your stuff. You have me in the mood for it now though, so I'm looking around.

Well, to be honest, there wasn't a lot of stuff ever in CSI fandom, and although there's much more now, when you consider how long the show's been going -- it's still a pretty low figure. And then you add in Gil/Nick, a pretty rara avis *g* -- yeah.

Of course, the whole George Eads surgery thing makes me want RPF like the bad, bad person I am.

I just read about that -- had NO idea. Poor guy -- and a fusion's no small surgery, either. A certain amount of risk involved. But he sure looks to be in great shape now! ::wipes chin::

(I can understand the impulse after years of SPN RPF. I never did grok it until SPN, though. And I really feel sorry for GE -- it sounds as if he's been in pain for a long time from that injury. Man, and LACK OF INSURANCE kept him from seeking treatment. That just SUCKS.)

I stopped in season 6. I knew it was dead for me when I didn't even come back for LARRY FISHBURNE. I fucking LOVE Larry Fishburne.

I was one of the few people I knew personally who liked Sara, but I was always very DNW about her and Gil. Of course, if it were up to me they'd all either be gay or clergy, so. :D

ALSO ALSO, I don't think there's ever been a male character on TV like Nick Stokes. He's incredible.

ITA. It would be so easy to dismiss Nick as "the nice guy," or the Everyman. Which he is, or at least started out that way. But his character growth was nothing short of mesmerizing -- to see someone come into his own as he did, to overcome so many terrible blows, to recover believably -- I think you are absolutely right.

(In no small measure due to GE's portrayal of him, no doubt. But still.)

That is exactly what I love about Nick as GE does him. He should be the blockhead Aggie. In the hands of anyone else, he would be. But instead, the character turns tropes inside out. It's not just his performance, which is great, but how he's scripted and directed. One of my friends said he's coded as a woman, and he is. Not many guys could carry that off.
