Birthday Memories

Well, our second Baronial Birthday is behind us (our first was canceled due to the abrupt loss of our site). It is one of the most relaxed large (160-ish attendees) events evah. Since we select most of our champions, there are LOTS of various fighting opportunities. I think the fighters had a good time with the scenarios, the archers had a really spiffy course, and the fencers kept on going and going and going ...

We have a great set of champions as well as new archer marshals (yea!) and warlord. We didn't want to let our archer champion go and we didn't have to - also yea! I feel a little melancholy as these are our last champions since we will be stepping down next birthday, assuming that His Majesty agrees to the final year.

I am also thrilled that there were people with 2 neurons and a functioning synapse around me (Thanks to Baroness Elizabeth and Margaret - you really saved me). I was somewhat in a haze from waking up at an unghodly early hour because I couldn't sleep. The idea to have all the past Storvik baronage at high table was wonderful, and I wasn't able to think of it. The feast was yummy, and the service at high table was so good that I was able to sample all the dishes, only surrendering right at the end. There is a poll on orlacarey's livejournal for your opinion.

I think I got around to speak with everyone, and our cousins from Highland Foorde surprised us with a lovely basket. The chocolates were shared, and the bottle will be too. There is a chance that we might move up that way when we get around to getting a retirement place. Continuing my vow to not burden TRM with yet another basket, we presented our 'taxes' - a box of gold chocolate coins. I hope I didn't slight anyone. I think I managed to remember what I needed to at court, although we were quite the 2 stooges act. Normally we aren't *that* bad. Sigh.

We're starting the grand assessment of the baronial 'stuff' - we realized that there is a lot of our personal belongings used in the 'presence'. I want to make sure our successors know what comes with the package and not have unmet expectations. Anyway, we have to do inventory and we are just going to be a lot more detailed. We will be donating the heraldic cloaks, and I realized that I have to get the embroidered morses done really soon if we want to have a chance to wear them ourselves! I have the artwork examples, now I just need to determine the optimum size for the design. I'm working out how to make them adjustable because future B&Bs will not necessarily be extra large people. So now I am looking for suggestions of artists who would be willing to help with this project.

sca, storvik
