supernatural 7x23, survival of the fittest

Omgomgomg.

1) WHAT WAS THAT OMG THE ENDING WAS AWESOME. Actually it was overall great though I have a couple of quibbles, but that said seriously I'M SO HAPPY WITH THIS TURN OF EVENTS.

2) Also congratulations on managing to wrap up with sense a season that had a basic plot all over the place, really. And I'm really REALLY glad we're done with Dick because as much as I liked the snark and the smarts, the actor looking like Christian Bale was the reason why I never took him seriously and I suppose giggling every time the super scary villain comes on screen isn't exactly the best reaction anyone could have.

3) I still don't get what Meg's overall endgame was, but whatever, she was relatively useful and she said that Dean was Cas's boyfriend so she gets a pass for now.

4) CROWLEY AND HIS CONTRACT <33333333333333333333 and his bunch of double-crossing. Oh Crowley, never change. And the snarking with Dick was priceless.

5) THANK FUCK THE IMPALA IS BACK, THANK FUCK, I COULDN'T TAKE THE RUN DOWN USED CARS ANYMORE.

6) Castiel likes Don McLean? GOOD TASTE BABY. *cough* Also omg Cas and his honey fixation JESUS HE WAS GIVING CROWLEY HONEY AND HE BROUGHT DEAN AND SAM SANDWICHES FROM NORMANDY I JUST - CASTIEL HOW CAN PEOPLE HATE YOUR FACE.

7) On more serious matters: that scene with Cas and Dean next to the car was - OH MY HEART EVERYTHING I WANTED SINCE LAST SEASON. It was just so - I really wanted them to talk it out and they did and oh my god the way Cas smiled at Dean when he said he sorta forgave him and all of them were damaged goods and he said he'd go with him <333333333 and in less capslocky and more coherent feelings it was such a good mirror to the talk they had last year. I mean last year Cas asked Dean to stand with him and Dean didn't and they had that entire baggage of lies and betrayal and stuff between them but now THEY GO HAVE THEIR LAST STAND TOGETHER and they're a lot more zen about it after all the shit they went through and and and and MY SHIP WATCH IT SAIL <3 And then they were so very perfectly coordinated when they went after Dick and and and AND ALL MY FEELINGS.

8) On that: OMG THEY'RE STUCK IN PURGATORY TOGETHER THAT'S THE BEST FUCKING THING EVER. I'll be more coherent about it after but oh my gosh I'm jonesing to see what happens with the two of them being forced to work together which hasn't happened in ages and IT'S JEREMY CARVER CALLING THE SHOTS NEXT SEASON and no people I can really really be hopeful that it ends up being as glorious as it could be yes?

9) And on that: PEOPLE, DEAN HAS A STORYLINE OF HIS OWN AGAIN. LET'S REJOICE PEOPLE, LET'S REJOICE. Not that I didn't like the rest but seriously he's been tagging along since the end of S5 at least, and it's gonna be good for his liver since there's no alcohol in Purgatory. Hopefully.

10) And with that, I really REALLY am excited about Sam being on his own without being able to take any shortcut he'd have taken in the past. Like, his track record isn't that great and it's been basically let's make a deal or let's drink demon blood or let's be soulless (not his fault tho) but now he can't do any of that also because he hopefully knows better, and there's no Bobby around either (and no Meg I guess) and I just really want to see how he gets by and how he manages to get them back. He's a smart cookie, he can do it. And it means we're not rehashing S1 again, which just, THANKS because the more this show tries to rehash S1 the more I enjoy it when it doesn't. If that makes sense.

11) I'm extremely sad to see Bobby go even if it was good that it was on his own terms instead of going off the rails and having Dean and Sam being forced to off him like any other spirit. And his scene with Sam ;___; UUUGHHHHH ;______; seriously I'd have rather have him not dead at all but I don't dislike the turn of events, so.

12) I don't really get the importance of the new prophet's storyline in the overall economy, but they're probably realizing that they need supporting characters around. Yes, that's me being like 'WHY DID YOU KILL EVERYONE ELSE OFF?'.

13) The blonde girl having to undress before they killed her was wholly unnecessary. Also the entire bioengineering thing Dick was planning was pretty much vomit-worthy. Bleah. Did I ever say I disliked Leviathans also because they're disgusting? Well, there, now I said it.

14) Seriously, the set-up for next season imo is awesome, and I'm really REALLY glad it looks as far as possible from the S1 rehashing they did this season which is the reason why I found it average 75% of the time. I'm so so very hopeful/excited right now. Also because sorry Sera, but new showrunner wrote half of my top ten episodes and two thirds of my top three, I'LL BE HERE BEING EXCITED OKAY.

15) And with this I think I ranted enough but omg I haven't been this happy with this show since... errrrr probably Frontierland. But Frontierland doesn't count. Let's say that I'm as happy with the possible direction of things as I was when I realized that S4 was a new shiny mytharc and I started getting into fandom for real. So yeah I'll be here having a squeefest and plotting stuff and being optimistic and damn, OCTOBER? REALLY? Long hiatus is long.
