Thank you! As always, your meta sheds light on so many things I missed, opens ways I never thought about! I particularly found spot-on the observation that Clara is the mystery, this time around, the unknown. I couldn't put my finger on exactly why I couldn't connect with her character already! I like to think I'm pretty open minded about companions, I liked all of them, in various ways, obviously. But Clara was- IS- still like a poke in the eye: she's there but she's not in sight.
I can't believe that I didn't 'notice' the ladder. (Too much going on this episode, I keep getting sidetracked.)
And I'd say that if there's no TARDIS-ness to Clara, the show LIED! Also (and I have me_llamo_nic to thank, as I am not terribly familiar with the classic show), there is this line from Omega in Arc of Infinity:
"You destroyed my TARDIS, but I will build another."
We know someone is trying to build a TARDIS. Plz let Clara be the missing part/the pilot?
(If we didn't know that Clara was continuing as the Companion in the next series, I'd go out on a limb and say the Moff was killing the TARDIS & replacing it with Clara...)
That was impressive. You have a way of unearthing some striking, slightly unnerving running themes. I'm beginning to be properly afraid OF Clara

Love the 2 contrasting shots of the scanner inner/outer red/blue, and also love your links in to clara wearing red and then with a blue towel at the end. And this...
These are metaphors, of course -- the ability to burn with passion, to exercise cool reason. It's being able to go between these two polarities, as if they were fused together, that gives the hero the ability to move "between the worlds" -- between the inside of intention and the outside of material action.Fabulous
